Is it Possible to Get an 80% Cure for Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn’s, Celiac Disease or IBS?

Stupid headline right? I mean is there such a thing as an 80% fix for anything? Not for cars or washing machines in my experience, but what if you give an answer on a test in school that is at least 80% right, do you get partial credit or zero? Depends on the subject matter and who is awarding the points right? Well, the test in front of you is how to heal your body and you’re the only one who can grade your performance… but I’m guessing any partial improvement in your health is worthwhile. So, if you could get 80% improvement in your health would it be worth it to you?

In my case, the answer was a resounding Yes! I think diet was at least an 80% (maybe higher) part of my cure and I think the Specific Carbohydrate Diet is the best diet choice if you have digestive problems (from my experience).

What kind of digestive problems?

Every kind related to Ulcerative Colitis, Crohn’s, Celiac Disease and IBS, including diarrhea, constipation, gas, cramping, bloating, acid-reflux, weight loss, low-energy, stomach pain etc. The SCD diet addresses the needs of all of these problems.

So, Why 80%? I Want 100%… I Don’t Want To Partially Fix My Problems

I say 80% because I’m a firm believer that to fix a problem there is usually one major variable that first needs fixing. And without properly addressing this issue it doesn’t matter what you do; you’re not going to solve the equation. The last 20% of every problem is usually the hardest to figure out and is especially true when it comes to digestive disease (in my experience). The SCD diet addresses the main causes of all digestive diseases and it may get you to 100%, as it has for many. But each individual is going to be unique and in order to get fully picture perfect healthy will probably need to tweak the diet to their specific lifestyle.

But What About All The Other Treatments?

Do your own research, but I think it is safe to say that none of them (that I know of )will heal you if you keep your current Standard American Diet (SAD). You can pop prescription pills, exercise, do enemas, experiment with herbs, juice, fast and many other natural remedies, but in the end you have to eat to live. And if your diet is the one variable that continues to make you sick, then all your other efforts will be in vain. Don’t get me wrong, I think many of those treatment ideas have merits, but in my opinion they are all part of the other 20%.

In other words, most treatments, natural or medical in nature, only address 20% of your health goal. While they are worthwhile in many individual instances, failing to address dietary modifications leaves out the biggest chunk of the puzzle and never fixes the root problem.

Okay, Food Might Be Making Me Sick But SCD Is Too Hard

That’s fine, it is your call. Once again, do your own research and try several diets if you like. But like I said earlier, the one that has worked for me and my friends is the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. I choose SCD because it had the most testimonials from people who had my symptoms and it was created to specifically address my digestive problems. There are plenty of other diets out there that I think have merit including:

GAPS – (Created from SCD, tailored towards Autism; full of supplements to buy)

Paleo – (Great diet similar to SCD, but not created for digestive problems)

Primal – (Again, great diet & very similar to SCD, but not created for digestive problems)

Gluten free – (Better than SAD but I don’t know anyone who feels 100% healthy on it)

Look, there are many different diets you can try but before you do ask yourself this question when you are researching the different diets: were there any people who suffered from your EXACT problems and used their respective diet to heal themselves? If not, be a skeptic. I wasn’t looking to blaze a new trail trying to get healthy and I’m assuming, unless you’re a scientist or doctor, you’re not either.

A word of caution: do not get caught up in ignorant excitement if the testimonials you find have the same goals you are looking to accomplish. This is a very BIG distinction to make. Don’t get drawn into ideal scenarios of health from

Any diet that includes natural foods will help

testimonials of people who didn’t start their healing paths with the same conditions that you have today. All the diets above, except gluten free, can be used to lose weight, get your energy back, lower cholesterol, lower your blood pressure and generally get you healthier.

Make no mistake about it, modifying your diet is legit. Any of the above diets are better than a standard western diet. But if you are interested in getting the full 80%, pick the one that heals people who are in your shoes.

Okay You’ve Got My Attention But Now What?

Picking any new diet may seem like a daunting task, but it’s not. I’m serious, because I’ve done it many times. You can research yourself to death trying to understand every aspect of all the diets above but in the meantime you will still feel like crap. You can never have all the facts about any decision because the only way to truly evaluate whether a diet is right for you is to try it. So, let’s get started following the steps below:

Step 1 – Pick a new diet to start next week

Step 2 – Research how to do that diet and only that diet (forget the rest for now)

Step 3 – Commit to at least 30 days on that diet

Step 4 – If you see results in the first 30 days, extend your trial to 90 days (if not, reevaluate your experience and try a different diet)

What I really want you to take away from this article is that you need to change your diet if you hope to cure your IBD, Celiac disease, IBS or other digestive symptoms. Remember, the choice is yours. Of course I recommend the SCD diet, it worked for me and most of the other people I’ve met with digestive diseases. That is why we have a free guide on our site to get you started.

But don’t rely solely on me. Do your own research and try out one of the other diets, if you think it is for you. And remember: if you give one of them a try and it doesn’t work, you can always try a different diet later. The point is to take action and just do something.
